Tom Brodie Bio
I’m a two time Texas A&M graduate (BBA: 1981 & MBA: 2001) who worked for Shell Oil Company for 26 years. As I progressed through my career at Shell, working with a wide variety of internal clients, I learned the importance of communications – both verbal and written, as well as problem solving skills. I strengthened my problem solving skills while working for a particular manager at Shell. He always asked the question “Why?” At times that was frustrating, but it taught me to always dig deeper and look for the real cause of whatever problem we might be facing.
After an extensive joint venture assignment and a global support role at Shell, I moved on to what might seem like a totally random industry – scuba retailing! However, I quickly learned that the communications and problem solving skills I developed at Shell were immediately applicable, especially in listening to and understanding a new scuba diver’s needs.
Having the perspectives from both a large corporation and a small retail organization has reinforced my ability to help customers find the best solution for the problems they face.
With experience ranging from finding intra-company billing errors to defining customer requirements in global budgeting software to teaching people how to scuba dive and take pictures underwater, I’m confident that I can help you discover ”found money” in your organization and Be A Hero to your company!
